36 Days of Type

36 Days of Type is “a celebration of typography and creativity, involving designers, visual artists and creatives from all fields in a global and simultaneous act of creativity around type and letterforms”. www.36daysoftype.com/about

Since I am passionate for typography and 3D, I participated from 2018 to 2020 in the creative challenge with three-dimensional letterforms.

2020 Edition

The 36 letterforms of the latin alphabet, including the numbers, consisted of six different 3D setups. The idea was to have one consistent look set in pale green and copper throughout the series, with re-usable setups for time-efficiency.

Additionally, I also wanted to include ampersand in the collection. In honour of its visual elegance, I even created an animated version. This blends my passion for letterforms, 3D and motion, all in the true connecting sense of ampersand/and-per-se-and.

2019 Edition

This edition was dedicated to things that bring me joy. Each letter is a visual representation of said things, from sparkly ice cream to the simplicity of the ocean.

2018 Edition

This was the first edition of 36 Days of Type I participated in. As I was still rather at the beginning of my 3D journey, the series was all about learning. Connected through gradually shifting colors, it was about the (then) new Maya Mash tools and lots of boolean power.
